Make no mistake about it. A vibrant opposition is a prerequisite for an enduring and effective democracy.

Before the conjugation of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), All Nigeria People’s Party and Okorocha’s All Progessives Grand Alliance (APGA) to form the All Progressives Congress (APC), political party opposition to the ruling PDP was more or less fragmented across board.

The ACN was seen as South West Party and just before the celebrated merger, Tinubu’s political fiefdom. The CPC, followed mostly by Buhari’s loyalists and dozens of Northern born-to-rule protagonists, was seen as a North West party; even though the only state it had a governor was in the North Central state of Nasarawa.
The APC, a hurriedly knocked together political contraption was expectedly thought of (by many) to be the long awaited match for the ruling PDP. But alas, anecdotal records and other political psychologies show a regional-religious agenda – returning power to the Muslim north.

APC’s fruitless attempts to shake off its Boko Haram tag is becoming more and more comical… They blind themselves to these unassailable facts:

Like my brother and friend Daniel Ogbegie posted on his Facebook page, ‘’The APC and their partners in the media have adopted propaganda as a tool to discredit Jonathan and anything connected with him. They know many Nigerians are set in their ways, gullible and clannish. They twist facts, send wrong information to the public space and mudsling unnecessarily.

The NSA, Sambo Dasuki has come out to say the military deals in South Africa were his actions. This ought to effectively excuse Pst Ayo, but Nigerians are a people set in their ways. The SA authorities have agreed that the 5.7m dollars deal followed procedure. Asari has come out to debunk APC’s reference to him as silly and false. He said he was in South Africa last in 2002. He said he was in Nigeria at the time the Jet in question flew to SA, preparing for hajj. He said he flew to Saudi Arabia from Kaduna for the Hajj. Shouldn’t all these have shut opposition elements up and they either apologize or tuck their tails inside their anus???

I think as supposed intelligent men, we should try to be more critical in our evaluation of social and political affairs, not making emotional outbursts.
We should make reasonable commentaries. We should weigh view points, subjecting them to critical analysis so we could have informed opinions.
1. Was Asari Dokubo in South Africa with the Oritsejafor’s jet as APC and many of their people on TV and facebook alleged? NO. from his statement and alibi, certainly no!
2. Was Nigeria’s NSA aware of the arms deal? Yes he was, according to him. He sanctioned the deals and was fully involved.
There have been regular questions from the APC and their media men as regards the Nigerian that was in that flight and many of them insinuated that that Nigerian was Asari Dokubo.
Asari in his response was crystal clear that he wasn’t in South Africa. All he said are verifiable under an hour.We may choose to loath Asari for any reason, but on this, it is clear to me that Asari is saying the truth. Asari has never even struck me as someone that could lie for any reason. Asari doesn’t need any approbation from anyone and doesn’t fear anyone and anything. Moreover all he said are in the public domain and we don’t even need to invoke the Freedom of Information Act to verify them.

Some have also asked Why Pst. Ayo’s jet was used? It was used because Pst Ayo runs a commercial jet! Why wasn’t Adenuga or Dangote’s jet not used? They were not used because they were private jets!!! This is rather simple to a honest mind.
I believe a virile opposition is needed in any democracy, but an opposition Party that resort to lies, mudslinging, deliberate falsehoods, grandstanding, hatred, polarisation and introduction of ethno-religious schisms should bother us greatly.’’

And I have always asked myself why these same gullible fairy-tale lovers never question their convolutions on such expose like:

A senior member of the European Parliament, Franz Obermayr MEP, has accused the Opposition All Progressive’s Congress (APC) of channeling European Parliament financial aid to Boko Haram in the North East of Nigeria and called on the European Commission to investigate alleged concerns over the party’s financial and political allegiance with the terror group.

The Nigerian Times learnt exclusively that Franz Obermayr, of Austrian Freedom Party, currently the most popular political party in Austria, made the statements in a press release issued on 16 September and covered widely by the European press.
The Nigerian Times also learnt that Obermayr has been working closely with Stand for Peace, a Muslim-Jewish interfaith organisation dedicated to countering extremism and promoting social and religious cohesion. Oberamyr has also called on EU election observers to closely scrutinise the links between the APC and Boko Haram in the run up to the 2015 presidential election.

He said: “In Nigeria’s case, a large proportion of the subsidies from Brussels are used in the north of the country. The federal states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa in the extreme north-east of the country are precisely the areas in which Boko Haram’s campaign of terror is largely tolerated by the authorities. The aforementioned sub-republics are governed by the All Progressive Congress (APC)”

In the statement made available to The Nigerian Times, Obermayr says that all further European Parliament cooperation and funding to Nigeria should be subject to the findings of a report into the close relationships between political parties and terrorist groups in the country, suggesting that all development aid should be immediately suspended if any wrong doing is exposed.

Turning to individuals in the APC, Mr Obermayr raised the US Embassy memo which states that former Vice-President and 2015 Presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubukar, received money from Al-Qaeda to “destabilise the south of the country” and the recent defection of Femi Fani-Kayode from the APC because of their “clear islamist agenda and sympathies with Boko Haram”.

Further, in a statement that highlights widespread concern ahead of the 2015 presidential elections, he said: “Even the most senior man in the APC, former Nigerian head of state and presidential candidate, Mohammadu Buhari, was quoted in the British newspaper The Guardian back in 2001 calling for sharia law to be introduced throughout Nigeria, including the Christian-dominated south.”
The announcement from Obermayr and Stand for Peace follows a similar call from Andrew Rosindell MP, of the UK parliament, for an inquiry into the relationship between members of the APC and Boko Haram.

Stand for Peace have long investigated Boko Haram and their international financial and political connections, previously exposing links between the extremist sect and the controversial UK based charity the “Al-Muntada Trust”. The allegations will cast a severe blow to the APC who have struggled to challenge its alleged sponsorship of Boko Haram on the international stage, particularly in the UK.

Former Head of Military Ruler and Chieftain of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Major General Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Federal Government to stop the clampdown of Boko Haram insurgents, saying Niger Delta Militants were never killed or properties belonging to them destroyed.

Buhari who spoke on Sunday on a Liberty Radio programme, Guest of the Week monitored said accused the government of killing and destroying houses belonging to Boko Haram members while the Niger Delta militants get special treatment.
The former dictator said that unlike the special treatment given to the Niger Delta militants by the federal government, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished by government.

While accusing President Jonathan of failing from the beginning to address the security situation in the country, Buhari said he has never been in support of the state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa state.

Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) National Leader, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has criticised the declaration of state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States and the subsequent military offensive against the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

Buhari, who featured on the “Guest of the Week,” a Hausa programme of the Kaduna-based Liberty Radio, yesterday said the federal government’s action was a gross injustice against the north. According to him, unlike the special treatment the federal government gave to the Niger Delta militants, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished.

He said he was not in support of the declaration of state of emergency in the three north-eastern states because President Goodluck Jonathan had failed from the outset in addressing the security situation in the country.http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/buhari-military-offensive-against-boko-haram-anti-north/149256/

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has refuted the allegation that he bit the fingers that fed him by criticizing former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, in his book, The Accidental Public Servant.

The former director general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), who spoke with Saturday Sun in Abuja, questioned the rationale behind such notion, saying that Atiku didn’t make him the person he is.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he was already a self-made man before he came into government, saying the insinuation that Atiku made him is utter nonsense.

In this interview with AIDOGHIE PAULINUS in Abuja, the former minister also gave reasons he has persistently criticized President Goodluck Jonathan, even as he spoke on the prospects of the newly registered APC, former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari as his best presidential candidate for 2015.

7. THE SAME EL RUFAI 3 YEARS EARLIER: Buhari has nothing to offer…should retire says El-Rufai

The attention of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been drawn to statements from Generals Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Babangida purporting to be responses to the advice he gave both men to retire.

Since Babangida libelled whole generations of Nigerian youth as being unfit for leadership, age has become an issue in the coming elections. While it is true that neither youth nor age supplies wisdom on their own, it makes sense to ask those who have been recurring decimals in our country’s sorry history to leave the stage. That is all El-Rufai asked of these men who seem to think that their failure to do their best for Nigeria when they had the chance qualifies them for a return to office. Our people surely deserve better. Read more – http://pointblanknews.com/pbn/exclusive/buhari-has-nothing-to-offer-should-retire-says-el-rufai/

It amazes experts in critical thinking and indeed the average onlooker in the political marketplace here in Nigeria, how people really sleep at night as followers of a confused, mudslinging, evil opposition which thrives on falsehood and concocted calumny.

Just before Jonathan’s foray into Nigeria’s Presidential playing field, we saw this and we are living it:

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has warned the Federal Government over the 2011 poll, saying “those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent change inevitable”.

And just a few weeks before Atiku: Date Published: 20/09/2010

ENDNOTE: “We all talk about Jonathan. He is not responsible for our ill luck. These problems have been building up for decades and are the results of the activities of previous governments. Jonathan is not a magician, the problems that have built up over four decades, you wouldn’t expect Jonathan to come up and solve them all. And Nigerians are not giving him the opportunity to have the peace of mind to deal with the problems. During election, certain people said they were going to make the country ungovernable for him. Is the country governable now?” – Dr Frederick Fasheun, founder of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC)
